Dettori part of royal procession on final day of Royal Ascot

Frankie Dettori arrived for his final day at Royal Ascot in the grandest possible fashion as part of the royal procession.

The 52-year-old has bounced back from a disappointing first day when he went winless and picked up a nine-day suspension – which he is appealing – to enjoy some spectacular successes, including the Gold Cup aboard Courage Mon Ami.

Dettori and his wife, Catherine, were in carriage four with Jamie Snowden and his wife, Lucy.

But while his book of rides on Saturday looked a promising one in his mission to add to his 81 winners at the big meeting, he was unable to sign off in fairytale fashion, with Covey well beaten as favourite in the Jersey Stakes and Free Wind unable to land a blow in the Hardwicke.

His best finish of the afternoon was a fourth place with Mums Tipple in the Wokingham Stakes.
